Palm trimming
We cut off dead and dying fronds, seed pods and flower stalks, which keeps palms looking clean and stops heavy fronds from dropping on cars, roofs and people. We leave the healthy green fronds alone: over-trimming (the “hurricane cut”) weakens palms.
Palm skinning, only if you want it
Skinning removes the old frond bases (the “boots”) for a smooth trunk. We don't skin palms as part of a normal trim. If you're interested, just ask and we'll talk it through with you before any work starts.
Bushes and shrubs
We shape overgrown hedges, bushes and shrubs and cut back anything crowding the house, walkways or windows.

Questions about palm & bush trimming
How often should palms be trimmed?
Most palms look best with a trim once or twice a year. Trimming out seed pods before they drop saves a lot of mess.
Is it bad to cut off green fronds?
Yes. Palms feed through their green fronds, so we leave them on. We only remove dead, dying and hanging fronds unless they're in the way.
Do you trim tall palms?
Yes. Send a photo and let us know roughly how tall it is.
Do you skin palm trunks?
Only if you ask for it and we agree on it ahead of time. It's not part of a normal palm trim.
